niin & näin

(est. 1994) is the world’s only philosophical magazine speaking Finnish and Swedish. The quarterly review niin & näin is published by an independent, non-profit association EFS or Society for European Philosophy with no institutional affiliations or party political engagements. niin & näin gives out variegated writings from refereed scholarly articles to freewheeling essays, interviews, columns and literary criticism. It is mostly known for its substantial theme issues on, say, architecture, food, Islam, hermeneutics, pop, metaphor, evolution and freedom of speech. niin & näin puts together a meeting place for professional and amateur philosophers, a multi-disciplined arena for scientific discussion, a vehicle for critical social debate and a handsome cultural periodical with illustrations from the most promising artists in Finland – all this rolled into one.

Over the years niin & näin has interviewed, among others, Richard Rorty, Martha Nussbaum, Orhan Pamuk, Claudio Magris, Takis Fotopoulos, Quentin Skinner, Ronald Dworkin, Stanley Cavell, Franco Berardi, Jean-Luc Nancy, Apitchatpong Weerasethakul, Michael Freeden, Charles Taylor, Pirjo Honkasalo, Helen Longino, Marco Bellocchio, Norman Daniels, Lilli Alanen, Alain Bergala, Anthony Kenny, Alanté Kavaïté, Donatella della Porta, Marc Silver, Michael Sandel, William Raban, Susan James, Terry Eagleton, G.
